Deeping Gate is a small Hamlet,lying on the River Welland and located in the traditional county of Northamptonshire, now the Greater Peterborough council authority. With a very small population, void of any major services, including a Post office or even Chapel, the community is very conservative and insular and depends on nearby Market Deeping for economic and Market services. Most of its inhabitants tend to be retired or communters. There are also many people in the agricultural sector living in the settlement. As a result of its status on the edge of The Deepings, as well as the fact that to get to nearby Peterborough, the settlement must be passed through, Deeping Gate has become the but of jokes for people living in the local area.
