Definitive Jux or Def Jux (both shortened forms of Definitive Juxtaposition) is an independent hip hop record label based in New York City, United States, co-founded in 1999 by former Company Flow member El-P (real name Jaime Meline) and Amaechi Uzoigwe.^[1] The record label was initially known simply as Def Jux, but in 2001 popular hip hop label Def Jam sued Def Jux over the name similarity.
