Demir Hisar or in translation it is known as Zeleznec, is an area that’s spreading on the South West part of Republic of Macedonia or North West from the Pelagonian low lands, around the river flow of the river Crna with her inflows. The greater parts of the surrounding of Demir Hisar are smaller hills and mountains, and a small part which is spread around the mentioned river is low lands. A mark which is the signature of this area are the mountains Bigla, Ilinska I Plakenska, on which is the highest pick (2000 meters) which separates the region of Demir Hisar and the region of Prespa and Ohrid.City park The name of Demir Hisar comes out from the treasure of iron that the mountains that surround this region have which is why it is called Iron Mountain. The name was changed depending from the ruler and the period he ruled, when it was ruled by the Greeks it was known as Sidero Kastron which in translation means ‘Iron Fortress’, but when it was overtaken by the Turkish army the name was changed in to” Demir Hisar” which in their language means ‘’ Iron Mountain’’. “Demir Hisar” is the name by which this area is known nowadays too. In the community of Demir Hisar lives 10610 inhabitant, 0.53% from all the population in Macedonia, and 21% of them lives in the town Demir Hisar.With the new set up of the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, the community of Sopotnica was integrated in Demir Hisar. Today the community of Demir Hisar is spread on a territory of 473 km2. As a part of this community 41 districts are included, from which the central part is the town Demir hisar with a population of 2447.


HISTORY OF DEMIR HISAR

The community started developing somewhere in 1945 soon after the end of the Second World War. First in Demir Hisar was formed a politically – social administrative community –Local public administration , and it was placed in the village of Lopatica but than with the change of the territorial and urban laws in the republic it was set in Murgasevo. Demir Hisar as a community is a independent society which is constant progress , and now is a well developed and well known place in the Republic, with their own systems for water, electric and garbage disposal systems, roads that lead to the community’s next to ours.


CULTURE

Folk ensemble "Ilinden" works in similar Cultural Educational Centre. It have small, middle, and big group, own orchestra with in total 150 members. Ensemble is formed in year 1993. With it works three choreographs like external collaborator of CEC. At repertoire of folk ensemble there are 10 choreographies which are presented afore citizens of Demir Hisar, in neighborhood municipalities and wide in Macedonia, in abroad (Serbia and Monte Negro, Bulgaria and Austria). In this places ensemble "Ilinden" have taken many recognition and prices. Here must be propounded participation in festivals like "Ilindenski Denovi" Bitola, "Injevo" -Radovis, "10 days Krusevo Republic" - Krusevo, days of Cultural Educational Centres of Macedonia, etc. Guests of ensemble "Ilinden" had been many ensembles from many countries like, "Ograzdence" - Petric (Bulgaria), "Nisan" - Sandanski (Bulgaria), "Kapance" - Razgrad (Bulgaria), "Tanasko Rajic" - Cacak (Serbia and Monte Negro), "Stubline" -Obrenovac (Serbia and Monte Negro) and "Floricanka" - Razin (Moldavia). Cultural Educational Centre "Ilinden" - Demir Hisar, with Folk Ensemble up to now have great cooperation with other Cultural Educational Centers in Macedonia, and that cooperation brings many collective concerts (with Krusevo, Makedonski Brod, Demir Kapija) and concerts with ensembles "Ilinden" - Bitola, and "Vlado Tasevski" - Skopje. In future there are planed many new visiting in Macedonia and whole world. 1993 (MCMXCIII) was a common year starting on Friday of the Gregorian calendar and marked the Beginning of the International Decade to Combat Racism and Racial Discrimination (1993-2003). ...
