T. Slama founded this party in 1999 by posted a bilingual website identiying the party's philospohy and policies, including reducing personal income taxes and Employment Insurance premiums, reducing taxes on small businesses, reducing the national debt, more assistance for students and retirement saving, more spending on health care and education, maintenance of constitutional monarchy.
The Democratic Party, in its platform in 2000 and 2004, called for abortion to be "safe, legal and rare"—namely, keeping it legal by rejecting laws that allow governmental interference in abortion decisions, and reducing the number of abortions by promoting both knowledge of reproduction and contraception, and incentives for adoption.
