The Democratic Social Movement (Greek: Dimokratiko Koinoniko Kinima (DI.K.KI), Δημοκρατικο Κοινωνικο Κινημα (ΔΗ.Κ.ΚΙ)) was a Greek democratic socialist political party. A political party is a political organization that subscribes to a certain ideology and seeks to attain political power within a government. ...


The party was founded in 1995 by Dimitris Tsovolas and ran in the election of September 1999. It got c4% and nine seats in parliament. In the 1999-2004 European Parliament they had elected members that sat in the European United Left - Nordic Green Left group. After this initial successes however, DIKKI failed to elect members in the Hellenic Parliament in two consecutive elections, Tsovolas unilaterally decided to dissolve it. Several party members who were frustrated with his decision went to court over this, and the court ruled that DI.K.KI. legally exists.
