Kostov and the DSB are outspoken opponents of the Bulgarian Socialist Party whom they regard as the heir to the totalitarian Bulgarian Communist Party, and of ex-Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha who is accused, very much like Kostov was, of corruption. In comparison to the UDF, DSB expresses more conservative and even "eurosceptic" (to some) or "eurorealistic" (to others) ideas. DSB also strongly opposes Ahmed Dogan, the controversial leader of the ethnic-based Movement for Rights and Freedoms.
