DeniseBiellmann (born December 11, 1962) was three-time national Swiss figure skating champion, known for her Biellmann spin.
She was European and World Champion in 1981, and placed 4th at the 1980 Winter Olympic Games, where she won the free skating portion of the event but was held back in the overall standings by poor compulsory figures.
Biellmann retired from amateur competition shortly after her World Championship win.
Denise did land her triple Lutz again, however, in her professional career, in the 90's.
Unfortunately, Denise was haunted by poor compulsory figures during her amateur career, and as a result, placed low at 1978 worlds even though she was second in the free program.
Even though Denise did not actually invent the Biellmann spin, since Janet Champion of the US and Karen Iten had also performed this spin, she had made the spin famous in the late 1970's and early 80's.
