Encyclopedia > Dennis railway station, Melbourne

Dennis railway station (station code: DEN) is on the suburban Hurstbridge line in Melbourne, Australia. It is located between South Crescent and Cain Avenue in the suburb of Northcote, near their intersection with Victoria Road. It is in Metcard ticketing Zone 1.

This station has two platforms located either side of the railway lines. It services what is now a predominantly residential area, although it is close to a small strip of shops in Victoria Road. In earlier days, it also had a shop across the road and a busier strip in nearby Simpson Street, but these have both closed down. Like all stations in Melbourne, it was once manned, but as it is too small to be a "premium station", it is now permanently unmanned.

Dennis has car parking facilities and disabled access, but few other facilities. However, most trains that pass through Dennis stop there, although there are a small number of express trains that bypass the station.

It is around ten minutes walk from busy High Street. A number of buses also stop in Victoria Road, such as those to Latrobe University, and as such, are accessible via Dennis.
