MacKenzie played collegiately at Duquesne University where, as a midfielder in 2004, he led the team to its second Atlantic 10 Conference regular season title in as many years.
MacKenzie, a Chartiers Valley High School graduate, finished his career as the Dukes' all-time leader in assists with 28, and he was third on the total points list with 50.
MacKenzie is one of seven former Duquesne players on the Riverhounds' roster.
MacKenzie has evolved into a player now relied upon for his defense and ability to create scoring opportunities for his teammates.
MacKenzie earned all-WPIAL, all-state and all-American honors and was named the 2000 Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Boys Soccer Player of the Year after racking up 22 goals and 25 assists in his senior season.
MacKenzie went on to be one of just of three Dukes players to start all 16 games last season and finished third on the team in points with one goal and six assists.
