Dermal is the outer most covering of the plant. It is single layered and the cells are barrel shaped. It has thickenings mainly due to deposition of cellulose. On the outer surface of the cells there is deposition of cutin which serves as water proofing. The continuous layer of cutin is called cuticle. In botany the cuticle is the waxy covering produced by the epidermal cells of leaves to protect the plant from excessive water loss. ...

The dermal cells also have a number of modifications which perform different functions. One of them is hair. The hair can be unicellular or multicellular. They also can uniseriate or seriate, and branched and unbranched. There are also scales which are multicellular. The dermal layer of stem is called epidermis while in roots its called epiblema because the dermal layer in the roots lack cuticle. Dermal fillers, for example Restylane, may be based on hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance widely used in medicine.
Frequently used to fill out the lips, dermal fillers are also highly successful in reducing crows' feet, wrinkles around the lips, nose and mouth, and lines on the cheeks and forehead.
Sometimes a combination of different fillers is used, or dermal fillers are used alongside botox.
Calculation of Patch Dermal Dosimeters (1091 words)
To calculate someone's total dermal deposition (column F), it is necessary to assume that the deposition density on the local body part is accurately represented by the deposition density measured on the dosimeter.
In the latter case, the known equivalent dermal deposition would be multiplied times the new concentration to yield exposures or doses expected in the new setting.
However, in the second cited case (Table 3b) where the measured chemical comprised only 0.12% of the aqueous mixture to which the associated spray applicator was exposed, the resulting equivalent dose is most appropriately expressed in grams of mist (although a portion of the dose could have come indirectly from contaminated surfaces).
