Des Plaines Public Library is a public library in Des Plaines, Illinois. It was moved from its old location (which had been in service since 1957) several years ago. They broke ground on a new downtown building on April 15, 1999 and opened the library on August 14, 2000 with a Grand Opening on September 24, 2000. It is located in the downtown area of Des Plaines which has seen a regrowth in the past several years. The library is comprised of four floors and annually loans over one million items to library patrons. They carry over a quarter of a million books at any one time. Des Plaines also sponsors a bookmobile that provides materials to those who cannot access the main library. Image File history File links Information_icon. ...
