dEUS(the correct formatting of the band's name) are a Belgian alternative rock band whose songs are primarily English. They incorporate a wide variety of styles, including Pop, Punk and Heavy Metal into their work. They claim to owe some of the inspiration to their music to the Velvet Underground and Captain Beefheart. To date, they have made three studio albums and one additional album that was only originally intended for fan order but was given a general release due to popular demand. All of these albums were released under the Island label. A fourth album is expected in early 2005.
dEUS is an indie rock band based in Antwerp, Belgium, currently consisting of Tom Barman (vocals and guitar), Klaas Janzoons (keyboards and violin), and Stephane Misseghers (drums), Alan Gevaert (bass) and Mauro Pawlowski (guitar).
The band, whose songs are primarily sung in English, was founded in Antwerp in 1991, but does not get its form until after Humo's Rock Rally of 1992.
From 2000 to 2004, the band took an extended sabbatical to allow the individual members to pursue different interests, including a Barman-directed feature film entitled Any Way the Wind Blows.
Deus ex Machina were formed in 1985 in Bologna (Italy); thus far, D.E.M. have released seven albums, and have also appeared on four compilations with other artists.
DE REPUBLICA, the band's third album, came out at the beginning of 1995; it marked a progression along the same track that the band had followed in their previous recordings, but with still fewer compromises.
And it's also time to celebrate the 20th birthday of the band (1985-2005): some concerts in Italy, France and Belgium to record a live CD and a DVD with recent concerts and "historical" stuff, to be released by Cuneiform in September 2006.
