Its main mission is the holding of a convention of 5 days every 2 years in a different city of Germany. These bring together between 100.000 and 200.000 visitors, who participate for the whole period of time. It was founded in 1949 and has achieved a high importance, as can be seen by many attending politicians, including chancellor and president.
