Dev later met solicitor Maya, when he was on the rebound from Sunita, who had rejected him in favour of barman Ciaran. He set up home with Maya, but when Sunita was taken seriously ill, Maya became jealous, and Dev was forced to choose between them. Dev went back to Sunita, enraging Maya in the process, and she smashed up the flat and set up Sunita with an illegal immigration scam, and she was arrested at her marriage to Dev. Sunita was jailed, though not for long when a taxi driver came forward with information that got Maya arrested and Sunita freed. Maya was released on bail, and with murder in mind she tied up Sunita and one by one set fire to each of Dev's shops. When Dev arrived she knocked him unconscious, and left both him and Sunita to die in the fire, but they were saved by Ciaran McCarthy and Charlie Stubbs. Dev's marriage to Sunita hit the rocks in 2005, when after announcing she was pregnant with twins, she found out he had other children by other shop girls at his shops. In January 2006 Sunita finally left Dev for good, with the twins, although she still lets him see them. In February, his teenage daughter from a previous relationship, Amber, came to stay with him at the shop. In July 2006 Dev learned that Sunita was seeing another man and he fears this may alter his relationship with the twins. Dev has had very little in the way of major storylines of late.
