After Harihara II died there was a dispute between his sons for the throne of the Vijayanagara Empire in which Deva Raya would eventually come out as victor. Throughout his reign, Deva Raya (1406-14220 would continually fight against the Velamas of Telangana, the Bahmanis Sultan of Gulbara, and the Reddis of Kondavidu as well as increase tensions with the Rayas of Vijayanagar and the Gajaptis of Kalinga. Even so, Deva Raya would be capable in managing the vast amount of territory that he controlled. After his death, Deva Raya would be succeeded by his sons Ramachandra Raya and Vijaya Raya.
