Dharmsamrat Paramhans Swami Madhavananda (September 11, 1923 - October 31, 2003) who was given the title Holy Guruji by his followers, was the spiritual successor of Bhagwan Sri Deep Narayan Mahaprabhuji and Guru of Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda. He was born in the village of Nipal, Pali district, Rajasthan, India. He got his Swami initiation in 1942. Teaching and work

Most of his teaching and work is founded on Satsangs (lectures of truth and wisdom) and Bhajans (chanted spiritual poems). He recorded them while living for many years beside his master Sri Mahaprabuji and did a lot of his own compositions. While travelling through Rajasthan, Gujarat and other parts of India he spread the teaching of his spiritual master and built several ashrams. He also involved himself in social work and was committed to the preservation of the ethical values of the Vedic civilization and culture and of Sat Sanatana Dharma. The Guru of Dharmsamrat Paramhans Swami Madhavananda and Satguru of Mahamandaleshwar Paramhans Swami Maheshwarananda, ' Mahaprabhuji (as he is known by his followers) lived and worked in Bari Khatu, Nagaur district, Rajasthan, India, according to his biographer, Swami Madhavananda.
Sri Mahaprabhuji was born on Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights.

Paramhansa Yogananda, a disciple of Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri who was himself a disciple of Lahiri Mahasaya, then brought kriya yoga to the United States and Europe during the 20th century.
A few are: Ananda, founded by Swami Kriyananda (a direct disciple of Yogananda) and the Center for Spiritual Awareness, founded by Roy Eugene Davis (also a direct disciple of Yogananda), and the Song of the Morning Retreat Center founded by one of Yogananda's chief disciples, Yogacharya Oliver Black.
A third lineage was initiated by Swami Satyananda, who discovered the practices from the ancient tantric scriptures and initiated his followers into the system.
