Over 90 percent of the diamonds that enter the country go through New York City, and most of them go through the DiamondDistrict (the stretch of 47th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue).
By the mid 1920's a thriving diamond industry had been established that was known as the "DiamondDistrict".
