Dibble is a town located in McClain County, Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 289.


Geography

Dibble is located at 35°2'24" North, 97°38'23" West (35.040060, -97.639805)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 6.9 km˛ (2.7 mi˛). 6.9 km˛ (2.7 mi˛) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 289 people, 111 households, and 84 families residing in the town. The population density is 41.9/km˛ (108.7/mi˛). There are 120 housing units at an average density of 17.4/km˛ (45.1/mi˛). The racial makeup of the town is 88.93% White, 0.00% African American, 5.88% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 5.19% from two or more races. 1.38% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 111 households out of which 36.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.6% are married couples living together, 11.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.3% are non-families. 20.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.60 and the average family size is 3.00.


In the town the population is spread out with 28.0% under the age of 18, 8.0% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 26.0% from 45 to 64, and 9.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 87.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.0 males.


The median income for a household in the town is $30,781, and the median income for a family is $35,000. Males have a median income of $30,000 versus $14,286 for females. The per capita income for the town is $16,609. 10.1% of the population and 10.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 9.6% of those under the age of 18 and 7.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Dibble, a seven-year Major League Baseball veteran, previously worked as a radio host and a baseball analyst for ESPN and ESPN Radio in June 1998.
Dibble combined with Norm Charlton and Randy Myers to form the "Nasty Boys" bullpen which helped Cincinnati win the 1990 World Series in which he tossed 4-2/3 scoreless innings in three appearances against the Oakland A's.
Dibble had his finest major league season in 1991 when he saved 31 games for the Reds.

Dibble was a member of the first Modern Artists of Utah and participated in an exhibition and helped write a formal statement to the public, both intended to increase the understanding and acceptance of modern art in Utah.
