Dick Rivers (born Hervé Forneri on April 24, 1945 in Nice, France) is a French singer and actor who has been performing since the early 1960s. He was an important figure in introducing rock'n'roll music in France. He is known for being an avid admirer of Elvis Presley, who highly influenced both his siging and looks. He started in 1961 as the lead singer of the band Les Chats Sauvages but shortly left to pursue a solo career in 1962. His latest album, called Dick Rivers, was released in 2006. Dick Rivers, Eddy Mitchell and Johnny Hallyday, were the legendary trio of French singers who in the sixties popularised a blend of the language of Molière and the rock‘n'roll of Elvis Presley and Gene Vincent.
The end of the decade saw the release of a double thematic album, "Dick Rivers présente Linda Lu Baker", the story of a star of the fifties, with Francis Cabrel, Liane Foly and the Golden Gate Quartet among others.
Dick Rivers celebrated his 45th year in showbizz in style with a series of concerts that lasted all year.
