Die Fragmente der griechischen Historiker, better known as FGrH (Fragments of the Greek Historians), is a monumental collection by Felix Jacoby of the works of those ancient Greek historians whose works have been lost, but we have citations, extracts or summaries. It is mainly founded on Carl Muller's previous Fragmenta Graecorum Historicorum (1841–1870). take you to calendar). ... 1870 was a common year starting on Saturday (see link for calendar). ...
A titanic work, it was started in 1923 and continued by him till his death in 1959. In its project it was divided in five massive parts, of which only the first three were to be published. The first included the mythographers and the most ancient historians (authors 1-63); the second, the historians proper (authors 64-261); the third, the autobiographies, local histories and works on foreign countries (authors 262-856). The work arrived this way to fifteen massive tomes, but the fourth (biography and antiquarian literature) and the fifth part (historical geography) were never done, even if a pool of editors is now trying to succeed in this seemingly impossible task. 1923 (MCMXXIII) was a common year starting on Monday (link will take you to calendar). ... 1959 (MCMLIX) was a common year starting on Thursday of the Gregorian calendar. ...
