Dimitrie D. Gerota - (July 17, 1867 - † March 3, 1939 ), Romanian pyshician, radiologist and urologist, associataed member of the Romanian Academia. Dimitrie Gerota researches the anatomy and pysiology of the bladder and appendix, and predicted a method for injecting lymphatic vessels known in the specialty literature as "Gerota method". He is considered to be the firdst Romanian radiologist. He was a famed surgeon and he was the founder of a large Bucharest hospital and a museum of anatomical-surgical casts that he created.
The renal fascia is sometimes called Gerota's fascia or Gerota's capsule after him. The kidney and the adipose capsule are enclosed in a sheath of fibrous tissue continuous with the subperitoneal fascia, and named the renal fascia (also known as Gerotas fascia). ...
