Dink, the Little Dinosaur (1989–1991) was an animated children's series. Riding the wave of cartoon dino-mania brought on by Don Bluth’s The Land Before Time, Ruby-Spears produced its own team of little dinos. An aged sea turtle named Crusty served as a mentor to the youngsters, while Tyrannor the tyrannosaurus put the fear of the dino gods in them. Children who watched learned lessons on ecology, tolerance and teamwork, while simultaneously enjoying the good-natured adventures of Dink and the gang. Starting with the second season, the show became even more educational, as a new weekly segment called “Factasaurus” provided lessons and fun tidbits about different dinosaur species. The added material wasn't enough to fight off extinction, however, and after one more season of prehistoric fun, Dink, the Little Dinosaur left the airwaves.
