They soon are attacked by a pack of velociraptors, but are rescued by a herd of dinosaurs heading for their traditional breeding grounds, believed to have been spared from the meteoroid's blast. As they finally reach the walls surrounding the breeding grounds, they discover that a landslide has blocked their only way in. Aladar and some others discover an alternate route through a cave and enter the fertile valley. Soon, however, they discover that the rest of the herd is following the leader, Kron, in a perilous attempt to scale the wall into the breeding grounds. Suddenly, one of the Carnotaurs corners the herd. The hungry carnivore is discouraged from a meal by the combined efforts of the group, but then spots Kron climbing the wall, and follows him up. The resulting battle kills both the Carnotaurus and Kron. But Aladar survives, and ushers the herd through the cave into the nesting grounds, where the eggs are laid and soon hatched. DINOSAUR movie reviewed (1254 words)
A special problem with the Disney dinosaurs is that since they talk, their faces have to have a softness and flexibility that is not appropriate.
The iguanodon was one of the first dinosaurs discovered, named, and studied in the early nineteenth century, and I believe it was the first dinosaur for which a complete skeleton was found.
No matter which portrayals of dinosaurs you prefer, it’s interesting to remember that when the first iguanodon fossils were found, their spiked thumbs were so unlike anything ever before seen on an animal that they were drawn with horns.
Dinosaur movie review by Jim Eadon (476 words)
Dinosaur is about an iguanodon who is orphaned and raised by monkeys far too advanced for their geological age.
Instead of building up to a tense climax, this movie more is like a rollercoaster, but not in the usual sense of the analogy: the allusion to repeated ups and downs.
Rather, Dinosaur takes to the apex right away, casts you down furiously, and then for the rest of the ride it gradually grinds you to a halt, never again subjecting you to the exhilaration of that initial build up and fall.
