The Discovery Mine was a gold mine 90 kilometers north of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories that operated between 1950 and 1969. Gold was discovered here by Alfred Giauque in 1944. A complete townsite was established by the company to house workers and their families. The mine produced one million ounces of gold from one million tons of ore. Mineable ore resources were exhausted in 1968, and the last gold was poured in April 1969.
Discoverymine is targetted for remediation and cleanup in the coming years (as of writing, the year is 2002), and will include the demolition of all structures.

The Mission Mine is a quarter-mile deep, two miles from north to south, and a mile-and-three-quarters from east to west.
In 1998, the Mission mine paid $3,203,000 in royalties and $7,187,000 in taxes to the State of Arizona and $496,000 in royalties to the Tohono O'ohdam Indian nation.
In 1996, the Mission mine bought $101,688,000 in goods and services from Arizona vendors, and $74,754,000 of that was from Pima County alone.
