Iris Dishon is a renowned Israeli designer and a graduate of Jerusalem's Bezalel Academy.
Dishon conceives her work as being a part of an overall designing concept.
In her paintings she does not tell a story, she portrays visions and shapes of powerful visual presence, visions that make a difference in the space they are in, and make it interesting.
Dishon, who was the first woman to have her name appear on the Tribune's masthead, suffered a stroke at home and died Tuesday in Memorial Hospital of South Bend, Ind.
Dishon moved to Chicago in 1966 to become women's editor of the Chicago Daily News and later became editor and president of a news and feature service she founded along with her husband and Linda Witt.
In addition to her husband, Dishon is survived by three brothers, a sister and numerous nieces and nephews.
