He was born Kristian Davey, but legally changed his name to Ditch when he was 18. He got the name Ditch when his younger sister couldn't pronounce Kristian, so instead she ended up calling him 'Ditchin'. As the years went on 'Ditch' became a nickname so on his eighteenth birthday Ditch was who he became.


Ditch graduated from the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 1998, being one of the Academy's most successful graduates. Not long after leaving WAAPA and the state of Western Australia, he got his first acting gig on a Wrigley's Eclipse chewing gum ad. After this, he got many guest roles on Australian dramas such as All Saints, Above the Law, Water Rats, and the telemovie Do or Die.
