In its original form, Rankin covered the Gold Coast hinterland including Lamington National Park and the major town of Beaudesert as well as some outer metropolitan areas of Brisbane. In this situation it was a marginal seat which the Labor party managed to hold. However, with the transfer of the rural hinterland to Forde, Rankin became a much safer Labor seat, being one of only two Queensland seats the ALP retained in the 1996 election. Judy Rankin nominated for LPGA Hall of Fame (331 words)
After a successful career as an LPGA Tour player and Solheim Cup captain, Judy Rankin moved closer to the LPGA Hall of Fame as she was nominated by the Veteran's Committee for entry consideration.
Rankin must receive a 75 percent vote of the ballots cast by the membership at the upcoming meeting on May 2 to gain entry.
Rankin won 26 tournaments during her 22-year career, including seven victories in 1976.
