Djibouti district is the smallest district (cercle) of Djibouti. Its capital is Djibouti, which also serves as the national capital. Other major cities and towns include 'Arta and Loyada. The district borders the Djiboutian district of Dikhil district to the south-west, the Djiboutian district of 'Ali Sabih district, Somaliland (Somalia) to the south-east to the south and the Gulf of Tadjoura/Gulf of Aden to the north.

The Republic of Djibouti ( Arabic : : جيبوتي, Ǧībūtī) is a country in eastern Africa, located in the Horn of Africa.
Djibouti is bordered by Eritrea in the north, Ethiopia in the west and south, and Somalia in the southeast.
