Djura Jaksic (1831-1878) was a Serbian poet, painter, narrator, play writer, and great patriot. Djura was born in Srpska Crnja and his house is today Memorial Museum that still stands in his hornor. Djura Jaksic had studied fine arts in Vienna and Munich. Although he is best known for his literature and paintings, Djura was also a teacher and professor. Schools and colleges troughout the country of Serbia and Montenegro, and areas of former Yugoslavia bear his name.
