Doduo (ドードー Dōdō?, Dodo) is one of 409 fictional species from the Pokémon franchise. Doduo's name is a portmanteau of the words dodo, the extinct flightless bird, and duo, in reference to its two heads. In the beta version of the English version of Pokémon Red and Blue, Doduo's name was simply Dodo, a direct translation of its Japanese name. Biology

Doduo features no less than two heads, which are its most remarkable feature. The second head is said to have been formed by a sudden mutation thousands of years ago. Both heads normally contain identical brains, although rare cases have been observed where a Doduo has two distinctly different brains.

Although Doduo supposedly has short wings and has limited flying abilities, it is much more proficient at running with its long legs. Doduo's tracks are huge and very distinctive.

Doduo's two heads are both a great asset and a hindrance to it. On one hand, having two heads gives Doduo great versatility: it can collect more information from its surroundings and perform more actions at once. It can remain alert at all times by keeping watch in two different directions, and one head always remains awake while the other sleeps. On the other hand, a Doduo's two heads are commonly known to squabble amongst themselves, despite the fact that each contains an identical brain.

It gains a third head, and all three heads acquire distinct personalities, when it evolves into Dodrio. Dodrio (ドードリオ Doodorio in Japanese, Dodri in German and Dodrio in French) is a fictional character of the Pokémon franchise. ...

Doduo inhabits grass-covered plains across which it races. It is well-adapted to dry and arid climates.

In battle

Doduo excels at the Attack and Speed stats and learns a number of powerful physical attacks which get a type bonus, such as Tri Attack and Drill Peck and occasionly Fury attack. However, Doduo suffers from low Hit Points and below-average defence. An all-out offensive with strong attacks may give Doduo victory before it suffers too much damage. In many wargames, role-playing games, and combat-oriented video games, hit points are an abstraction for the amount of damage an object or player in the game can take before becoming ineffective. ...

Oddly enough, Doduo can learn Fly via HM, despite the fact that it lacks wings. However, it is a flying type and learning the move could be advantageous. It can also learn moves such as Steel Wing, despite lacking wings.

Within the game environment, Doduos are usually used by Bird Keepers and Triathletes practicing in running.

Pokemon Ruby Pokemon of the Day: Doduo - IGN FAQs (1509 words)
Doduo has returned to the Safari Zone in RuSa (even though it's in a different city than before); that's the only place you'll find the wingless bird these days.
You might consider Quick Claw if a paralyzed Doduo's lack of mobility is a real turnoff for you or Bright Powder to possibly evade an attack; I just like Focus Band on Doduo because it has the potential to make his Endeavor all the more scary.
Rest is most certainly a consideration given Doduo's characteristic and poor defenses; the only reason I didn't go with that move myself is because Resting away Doduo's status problems will quite obviously mess up his Facade strategy (if you'd like you can try Rest and the standard Return in place of Facade, though).
