Unlike their days with CBS, the release of this album was patchy, being released in Europe and Japan before it was released in the USA.

The tracks are a mixed bag, all being composed or co-composed by members of the band, with the exception of Tear Off Your Own Head, which was composed by Elvis Costello. Some tracks are very weak, some are regarded as cynical attempts to recapture the success of Eternal Flame, while others are among the group's best work. Some of the energy from All Over The Place, their first album, is recaptured, while Ride the Ride introduces some intricate harmonies that the band had never used before. The tracks Stealing Rosemary and Here Right Now are very strong, while many think that Song for a Good Son is the best thing The Bangles have done. All Over The Place was The Bangles first full length album for Columbia Records and is considered to be their best album. ...
