In 1621 he went to Venice where, with Bernardo Strozzi and Jan Lys, he came under the influence of Caravaggio, he changed his style to be more in keeping with the current Venetian vogue. His hitherto formalised paintings became more pictorial and colourful. His group of paintings entitled Parables, which represent New Testament scenes have much richness about them and use scenes from daily life. They are at the Dresden Gallery.
