He assisted Vito in the killing of Don Ciccio who had ordered the assassination of Vito Corleone's father Antonio Andolini and played a direct part in the death of his mother who had come to plead with him to spare her sons life; this was the reason for Vito to migrate to America. By killing Don Ciccio Tommasino became the local Don of Corleone although he was crippled by a lupara shotgun blast from one of the Don's bodyguards.
