Encyclopedia > Donets River

The Donets River starts in Central Russia upland, north of Belgorod, in the Russian Federation. The river flows southeast through Ukraine until it joins the Don River, again in the Russian republic, below Konstantinovski. It is navigable on its lower reaches, allowing for transportation of coal and other products from the heavily industrialized Donets Basin.
