History

The meaning of 'Dong Bang Shin Gi' can be referred to as 'the Gods of the East are Rising'. This 5-member a capella/dance team is made up of mere high school students who auditioned for stardom. Each member has proved his excellent talent in singing as well as dancing. This came to a successful creation of the boy band.

The boys were put in different groups among peers and other trainees in training to be selected for the group already named as Dong Bang Shin Gi. The best were chosen to be put into the group Dong Bang Shin Gi and the following were chosen.

The first to join was Kim JunSu who was merely 12 at that time; he was brought into the program through a TV show looking for new talent. He continued on to train for 6 more years to debut under the name of Xiah Junsu. (If you take out the A in Asia, you get Sia. Replace the S with an X and add an H to the end, you get Xiah. This name is derived from Junsu's dream to become the best singer in Asia).

The next to join, Jung Yunho, won his audition through a dance competition. However, he was no amateur. He tasted stardom as a backup dancer and rapper for K-pop singer Dana. His chosen stagename is U-know Yunho (because when you say Yunho real fast, it sounds like U-know in English).

Kim JaeJoong, like Tamaki Nami (the Japanese pop singer), left his hometown to audition for SM Entertainment and debut under the name a fortune teller foretold years before: YoungWoong JaeJoong. He is also known as Hero, the translation of YoungWoong. SM Entertainment is the main producer of Korean pop music, and is the management agency of several Korean pop stars. ...

Shim ChangMin, one of the youngest to audition, passed the try-outs with flying colors, and joined the band on the name of ChoiKang ChangMin (the English counterpart to his stagename is Max).

Six months prior to the groups debut, a new member was added. The American Park YooChun changed his name to Micky YooChun. Originally, YooChun's English name was Micky, so he chose his English name to be part of his stage name.

With large success in Korea, Dong Bang Shin Ki are being shipped out to Japan, and all of Asia. For prep work, they recorded a single with The Trax and BoA. BoA, already being popular in Japan, and The Trax, releasing new music in Japan, made an awareness overseas with the new boy group. They have also released albums and singles in China and may add a Chinese member to their group to help their popularity in China. Asia is the largest and most populous of the Earths continents. ... BoA (born November 5, 1986 in Guri, South Korea) is a South Korean pop singer. ... BoA (born November 5, 1986 in Guri, South Korea) is a South Korean pop singer. ...
