Encyclopedia > Dong Jiang

Dong River (東江; Pinyin: Dōng Jiāng, lit. "East River") is the eastern tributary of Pearl River in southern China. The other two main tributaries of Pearl River are Xijiang River and Beijiang River. Hong Kong government purchases Dongjiang water from Guangdong government since 1969. Over 60% of domestic water in Hong Kong is imported from Dongjiang.

Jiang Hao-Quan began studying martial arts at the age of 4, studying Shao Yao Chang (Hsiao Yao Chang) with one of his uncles.
Jiang Hao-Quan was one of two outstanding students in the early 1930s at the Nanjing academy, selected to learn Ch'uan Shi Pa Kua Chang, a modified version of the combat-oriented Pa Kua Chang system originally created by Dong Hai-Ch'uan.
