Encyclopedia > Dongjiang River

Dong River (東江; Pinyin: Dōng Jiāng, lit. "East River") is the eastern tributary of Pearl River in southern China. The other two main tributaries of Pearl River are Xijiang River and Beijiang River. Hong Kong government purchases Dongjiang water from Guangdong government since 1969. Over 60% of domestic water in Hong Kong is imported from Dongjiang.
