The main selling point of Donkey Konga 2 is over 30 new songs to play with the Bongos. Other features include slightly improved graphics, the inclusion of some classic Donkey Kong characters and a variety of new minigames.


One point that may have led to some backlash against the sequel was the initial song list. Blu Cantrell's "Hit Em Up Style" was a questionable inclusion to many, and the title "Wish You Were Here" led many to believe Pink Floyd had a song in the game. However, the song was actually the Incubus song "I Wish You Were Here" mis-titled. No artists were named in the song list. Donkey Konga 2 has more menus to navigate through than the first game, but understanding how to play the game doesn't require any language skills.

The soundtrack in the original Donkey Konga was admittedly fairly bizarre, featuring children's sing-alongs, classic Nintendo theme songs, as well as pop music through the ages, from "Louie, Louie" to "All the Small Things." It was wildly inconsistent in tone, but it ensured that there was a little something for everyone.
Still, Donkey Konga 2 is an extremely easy game to pick up, yet on the higher difficulty levels it is certain to provide a challenge for even the most seasoned rhythm game veterans.
Donkey Konga 2 makes some tweaks to the gameplay modes found in the original, though the changes are mostly quite minor, and the overall experience seems identical.
