Encyclopedia > Doro Pesch

For other variations of Doro, see Doro.

Doro Pesch (born June 3, 1964, Düsseldorf, Germany) is a female vocalist, formerly of the Heavy metal band Warlock.

After many personnel changes in Warlock, she was the only surviving original member and instead of releasing a fourth album under their name, it was released under Doro.

She now pursues a solo career and lives in New York, United States. Her most recent album Classic Diamonds is a collaboration with The Classic Night Orchestra which reworked some of her earlier songs.

Biography

Originally in the group Snakebite, but in 1983 she left to join Warlock. In 1987, after Warlock's fourth album, Triumph And Agony, enough band members had been exchanged that Doro Pesch was the only remaining member. What would be Warlock's fifth album was released instead under Doro.

Her ten year contract with Polygram expired in 1995, when she signed with WEA (now Warner Music Group).

In 1995, Doro made her acting debut on the German television program "Verbotene Liebe" (Forbidden Love).

After the "Love Me In Black" tour in 1998, Doro parted ways from WEA and signed at SPV Steamhammer. She also signed a U.S. deal KOCH.

Warlock (band) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (553 words)
By the end of the 1980s, singer Doro Pesch was the sole original member whom remained in the band, and thus proceeded to form Doro, a band which was essentially a continuation of Warlock under a different name.
The "Mark I" line-up (Doro Pesch on vocals, Peter Szigeti and Rudy Graf on the guitars, Frank Rittel on the bass and Michael Eurich on the drums) recorded the albums Burning the Witches (from 1984) and Hellbound (from 1985), making European tours to market the releases.
As Doro Pesch was the only original member still on the band, she opted not to continue using the name Warlock, playing under the name of Doro from that point on.
