Encyclopedia > Dorotea

Dorotea is a Municipality in Västerbotten County, in northern Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 2802.5 km². Of the total population of 3353, 1734 are male, and 1619 are female. The population density of the community is 1 inhabitants per km².


On May 21, 1799 the town of Bergvattnet was renamed Dorotea, in honour of Queen Frederica Dorothea Wilhelmina of Sweden.


Amongst the Dorotea indusries the most known is caravan manufacturer Polarvagnen, www.polarvagnen.se
