Doubt! is about a teenage girl named Ai Maekawa. Ai is "jimi" (a Japanese slang term that refers to homely, studious girls), and she has freckles, which are considered to be ugly in Japan. Ai has been unable to find a boy who loves her, and she states that she will be a virgin at thirty. Oshita, a boy who Ai secretly likes, is revealed to have "popped" the "cherry" of Yumi, a girl who Ai hates with all her heart. When Ai hears this, she yells at her classmates to be quiet.
