Doug Howlett Official Website - ABOUT DOUG (340 words)
Doug, described as "Mr Consistency", received this rating for his support work, work rate, superior speed and ability under the high ball.
These characteristics were recognised early in Doug's career in his selection for New Zealand at the under 16 level, New Zealand Secondary Schools, New Zealand Colts and, as a teenager, the youngest debutant at the time with games for the Blues, Highlander and the Hurricanes.
Doug's work rate and scoring ability saw him equal Joeli Vidiri's record of 10 tries in a season last year and this year pass that figure.
RTÉ.ie Sport - Howlett & Holah extend All Blacks contracts (248 words)
"Both Doug and Marty have made an outstanding contribution to rugby at all levels in New Zealand and the fact that they have both decided to extend their contracts is fantastic news for us and for their fans," NZRU deputy chief executive Steve Tew said in a statement.
Howlett had earlier this year been the subject of media speculation linking him with a move to Wales after he was left out of the All Blacks's Tri-nations squad.
Howlett has played 48 Tests, scoring 39 tries, while Holah has played 34 Test matches and the pair are considered important members of coach Graham Henry's squad as he builds an experienced team capable of challenging for the World Cup in 2007.
