Doug MacLean born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island on April 12, 1954


Current president/general manager and ex-head coach of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets and former head coach of the Florida Panthers. MacLean is probably best known for leading a up-start Panther team, featuring goaltender John Vanbiesbrouck, to Eastern Conference crown in 1996, only to be swept in the Stanley Cup Final (four games to none) by the Colorado Avalanche. The modernized NHL shield logo debuted in 2005, replacing the orange and black shield, which had been used since the leagues inception. ...
