Encyclopedia > Douglas Martin Hogg

Douglas Martin Hogg, 3rd Viscount Hailsham, PC (born February 2, 1945), is a British politician and barrister. He is Conservative member of Parliament for Sleaford and North Hykeham; he was also MP for Grantham from 1979 to 1997.


He served as Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food from 1995 to 1997, during the BSE crisis. He is the son of Lord Hailsham of St Marylebone, a former Lord Chancellor. He inherited the Viscountcy of Hailsham in 2001 upon the death of his father. He is known as simply Douglas Hogg.
