Encyclopedia > Douglastown, New Brunswick

Douglastown was one of several small New Brunswick communities merged to form the city of Miramichi on 1 January 1995. Douglastown, originally known as Gretna Green, was founded in 1812 by two Scottish immigrants, Alexander Rankin and James Gilmour.
