History

The festival had a humble beginning more than 50 years ago.Music lovers from the by lanes of Kolkata gatherd to cherish mainly Indian classical music.Throughout the years, the festival has undergone many changes.Stallwarts of Indian classical music have performed in the festival.


Venue

Instead of the original venue of Dover Lane, this annual event is now organized in the Nazrul Mancha in the Southern Avenue.The usual days are from January 22 to January 26.


Character

The festival lasts for 6 days and is observed every year.Besides the performance of the maestros,the youngsters are encouraged to participate and showcase their talent.


The performances were scheduled at night in the past.However, the timing has changed now to day and evening.The Dover Lane Music Festival has become culturally one of the most important event of the year with the presence of a number of eminent music maestros from all over the country.
