Downtown Columbus is, obviously, the downtown area of Columbus, Ohio. The area is very large, and is kept very clean by the city. The Downtown neighborhood is one of the safest in the city, due to the atmosphere and density of the area. Downtown is actually mainly patroled by bicycle cops, from the Columbus Division of Police. The downtown area contains the Arena District. Just to the west of downtown is The Bottoms, to the east the Near East Side, to the north, The Shorth North and University Area, and to the south other small neighborhoods.
