Doctor Kavita Rao is a fictional character from Marvel Comics' X-Men. Dr. Rao is a world-renowned geneticist from India who developed a serum called Hope which could cure mutants from their mutation. While hundreds of mutants immediately signed up for the procedure at Benetech, the corporate backer of her research, the X-Mendebated the societal meaning of this: someone comparing mutation toa disease. Still, the chance at being "normal" weighed heavily on Hank McCoy aka Beast, for he considered taking the serum. Later it was revealed that Rao worked for the alien Ord of Breakworld who also had in his custody Colossus who was thaught to be dead.
