Dr. Zitbag's Transylvania Pet Shop, also known as Dr. Globule in France, is an animated television series created by Tony Barnes. The show originally aired on TF1 and it was later dubbed for English audiences as well, even the show's title got a name change. Plot summary

Dr. Zitbag was a Pet Shop worker who wasn't very good at selling any pets at all and because of this he was fired from the local Transylvanian Pet Shop. So he decides to set up his own Pet Shop at an old Haunted Castle and finds out that he will have to share the place with a skeleton dog, Horrifido. With Horrifido now helping him out, the doctor begins use with his inventions to create Horrific Pets to gain his profit.

Characters

• Dr. Zitbag - Dr. Zitbag is the main character of the show, he is a mad scientist vampire-like type of character who wants to become the world's best pet shop owner in the world, but his plans don't always work and certain mishaps do tend to happen.
• Horrifido - Horrifido is the actual owner of the old Haunted Castle where Dr. Zitbag has now set up his pet shop. He is a skeleton dog with green bat winged like ears, who now works as Dr. Zitbag's assistant. Sometimes Horrifido is seen wearing a pink bow collar around his neck. He is the only one of Zitbag's animal assistants who talks.
• The Exorsisters - The Exorsisters are Dr. Zitbag's neighbours, both ladies are twins resembling the bride of Frankenstein. Every often Dr. Zitbag always tries to impress them both, but the two often argue at each other.
• Zombunny - Zombunny appears to be a zombified rabbit who never seems to move and never opens his mouth or talks. (Is actually incapable of speech, since he is zombified). Most of the time he is with Dr. Zitbag & Horrifido as Dr. Zitbag would use Zombunny as part of his experiments but in some episodes Zombunny is a Special Constable working with Officer Deadbeat.
• Officer Deadbeat - Officer Deadbeat is the local police officer of Transylvania, he appears to have no neck and so his head is floating at where his would be neck should be. He has a personal grudge against Dr. Zitbag, believing that the doctor is a con-artist, if he ever arrests the doctor for good, his ultimate goal is to claim the old Haunted House as a new police station, as the one he has got is very small and he often bumps his head off.
• Professor Sherman Vermin - Professor Sherman Vermin is Dr. Zitbag's main rival, who Dr. Zitbag even hates that much. He has fluffy wing hair on both sides of his head and is much shorter than most of the other characters. He always knows what Dr. Zitbag is doing whenever he appears so he does exactly the same, only tries to outdo Dr. Zitbag so that he can close Dr. Zitbag's pet shop down and become the new Transylvania Pet Shop owner, though this often backfires on Vermin. In one episode, he set up his own pet shop in his caravan, but Dr. Zitbag saw this and using his flashback machine, he put out ants to get Vermin and they chomped down his caravan. In the end, Dr. Zitbag mutated the ants into rats to make Vermin ashamed for setting up his rivalry pet shop, but this didn't stop the rivalry in forthcoming episodes featuring Vermin. Like Deadbeat, he too has a personal grudge against Dr. Zitbag, believing that the doctor can't do as good.
• Franken-Octopus - the rarest (and last) of Dr. Zitbag's three animal assistants, always seen with Horrifido and/or Zombunny. He is an octopus with a Frankenstein head and face and with trademark bolts in his neck. He never talks, only makes animalistic sounds. (He is actually incapable of speech, like Zombunny; since he resembles a Frankenstein). Like any other Frankenstein monster, he is so unintelligent, he always displeases Dr. Zitbag and always gets things wrong, again displeasing the doctor.
• Franken-Clops - a very rare, minor character, (rarer and less major than Vermin, even) this character was never even named in the cartoon but his Frankenstein style head and one eye suggest that name; the only detail he gets is he is sometimes seen as a customer for whenever Dr. Zitbag is selling something at his shop or he sometimes is seen on occasions where the public is viewing. He is so rare and such a minor character, he spoke in about only one episode, when the ants were chewing down everything (the same episode Vermin set up his rivalry pet shop and Dr. Zitbag got revenge). His lower half is even rarely seen.

List of episodes

Only twelve of the episodes were released on video, due to the cartoon not being so popular (and liked by fans). The distributors never even got round to doing all fifty-two episodes on video.
