Draconian Times (1995) is the fifth album released by British metal act Paradise Lost. This saw them stray further from their doom/death roots, but it was their most commercially successful and critically acclaimed album, reaching #16 in the album charts, and is viewed as their finest album by many of their fans. It saw them progress from their previous album Icon, which already showed the band creating more accessible albums, yet not losing their patented anger and force. The track "Forever Failure", arguably the most depressing song on the album, includes a sample of the voice of Charles Manson several times during the song. PARADISE LOST - "Draconian Times" & "The Last Time" (806 words)
Now afterwards it is obvious that "The Last Time" was chosen as the single track becuse it is simply rather catchy and easy to get into and I bet that the record company has suggested this one.
"Draconian Times" was released finally and the hopes were high about it.
"Draconian Times" is a must for all fans of Paradise Lost who liked "Icon" as their best work but the others might think carefully first before getting it and probably givinng it a listen at the store.
